Bugs and Peppers

All of my plants are doing really well, and I’m pretty happy to have the little container garden so far. I still miss having Scott’s back yard as a garden, but this is working out pretty well where we are at the moment. One thing I’ve never really had to deal with so far is bugs eating my plants. Call me lucky, but it was never a concern. But over the last few days, something has been chewing up my pepper plants. Whatever it is doesn’t really seem to mind if its eating the bell pepper leaves or the hot banana pepper leaves.

Well I finally went out and bought some Sevin. I was going to get the dust, as my dad had advised, but I found they had a spray and so I got that. It was about the same price, plus I felt alright leaving the bottle outside. I also bought some bird netting to put over my tomato plants. The birds around here have been pecking at the green tomatoes and that was making them rot before they had the chance to ripen.

Blooming

I went home over the weekend to have Easter dinner with my family. I had a great time and ate some great food. My mom gave me some flowers, which I put in a planter that had some kale in it over the winter.

It’s been pretty hot lately, and even got up to 91 yesterday.

Lose An Hour, Gain Some Light

Went home over the weekend. Had some fun. I’m ready to move to Atlanta.

Sorta Spring, New Lens

It might not be the best photo I’ve ever taken (it was early this morning and I didn’t have the camera on a tripod), but I love this new lens my mom gave me. Thanks mom!

In other news, I’m still searching for jobs. I have hope that I’m going to at least get an interview soon.

It’s A Day Late, But…

Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad!  I couldn’t have had better parents, and I know that some of the best parts of my personality come from both of them. I can’t even imagine what 32 years is like to look back on in a relationship (and with my memory, I’ll just have to trust Sara to fill me in).

As a side note, it’s funny to me that the same clock is still sitting on that mantle. Wait, unless it’s on the other fireplace mantle. See: terrible memory.

New Dryer

My dad and Marc came up from Atlanta today to deliver a new old dryer to Sara and I. Our dryer died about a month ago, and it’s been pretty annoying to take the laundry to the apartment wash room.

Cooking With Sara

I had a feast for my Valentine’s dinner. It was a shrimp barbecue slow cooker recipe from the new cookbook that Amanda and Evan gave me for Christmas (thanks!), and I made some polenta and boiled artichokes to go along.

Everything was great except the shrimp was way overcooked, so I’ll have to adjust the heat settings for our slow cooker. I’ve never used it before, but hey, six months after I got it, it was time to open the box.
