A longer run

What do I take with me on a long run? This is about it:

Well, the holder for my water bottle is there, but the actual bottle isn’t, but that’s about it. I don’t carry the sunblock or body glide, obviously.

Peppers

Looks like we’re going to have a lot of peppers this year.

Canoeing

I went out on a canoe trip at work the other day. We needed photos to promote our educational programs, so I got 3 hours on the Chattahoochee.

Two more:

New Things

I’m in need of new running shoes again. I feel like this is going to keep happening sooner and sooner each time.

I saw Mike last night. I went down to help him move some heavy furniture, and then walked over to Park Tavern for dinner and then The Independent for Trivial Pursuit and drinks.

Got some free plants from work on Friday. I ended up getting a bunch, and planted 90% of them tonight. Here’s some of what I have growing on the patio right now:

I had some leftover seeds from last year, so I threw a ton of lettuce seeds in a long container. I sprinkled some flowers around the outside as well. We’ll see how they do.

There’s more, obviously:

Easy Going

I took some photos of some native plants that they’re selling at work. I’ve used them in marketing material for work but I like them so I figured I’d post them here.

Spring: first with a bang, then a wimper

This early Spring season has been interesting. First with 80-something degree days, and now with more normal 60 degree temperatures. If anything, the warm weather was a great reminder of how fun running can be in the summer. It’s nice to run without a shirt on. The warmth also brought some early plant growth, and I went out on the trails at work the other day to see what was growing. The first picture is of a fiddlehead fern. More specifically, it is a Christmas Fern (Polystichum acrostichoides).

Repairman

A few weeks ago our dryer quit drying. It would run, but wouldn’t actually heat up. I did what anyone would do, called my dad to see what he thought, and looked up any info I could on Google. I eventually opened the dryer up to start figuring out what parts needed to be replaced and was a little shocked to see what was in there.

No Snow day

We got about half an inch of snow yesterday. It melted quickly, but it was pretty at work.

Moving forward

Well as I’d stated before, I’ve been busy lately. I had the quarterly newsletter to put together at work and then had my biggest mileage week yet training for the Snickers Marathon Energy Bar Marathon (what a ridiculous name, right?). Things are back on track though. I’ve also had some decent beer lately.

Knee pain

While I’m still progressing on my marathon training, I have had a few weeks where I haven’t stuck to the schedule. It’s been a little frustrating but I know I’m going to be well prepared for the marathon.
