Snow and Ice

It might not look bad here, but since Friday we’ve had snow, sleet, and freezing rain on and off. Greenville isn’t really prepared for this sort of thing, and I guess you could say the state of South Carolina isn’t really either.

It was in the 60’s previously this week. This is just a reminder that winter isn’t quite over yet.

Candy. Specifically Mutant Candy.

I had a box of Gobstoppers at work for some reason. Now, I don’t tend to eat much candy, but when I do I love finding the pieces that are obviously manufacturing mistakes.

This Gobstopper, while not all that odd, was fun to eat. There was twice the hard candy shell coating that is on a usual Gobstopper, and as you can see, it was basically two pieces combined.

I’ve Been Wondering

For the last year and a half I’ve been in a job that doesn’t really fit what I want to be doing. I’ve been unhappy for a while.  I come home in a bad mood, I don’t really enjoy most of my day, and I feel like I’ve somehow gone off track from where I was heading in my career goals.

But.

Last Thursday I was called into my boss’ office and told that she had to make cuts, and being as I’m one of the newest employees in the department, I was out of a job here. Admittedly, I had been wondering if this was coming for months. It wasn’t a horrible thing to hear, and I really wasn’t stressing too much (it was odd though, I’ve never been laid off).

The good news, though, is that they found a position for me in another area of the company. For the next two months I’ll be working on the branding for a division of the company. I’m pretty excited, and am looking forward to next Monday.

The slightly bad news, if you didn’t catch it, is that the position is only for two months. So I am making plans to find something else. That means going somewhere else. And I’m concentrating on Savannah, Georgia.

The next few weeks should bring some interesting changes and hopefully some more good news. We’ll just have to wait and see.

Been Busy

It’s been an interesting week or so. I’ve been working on designing a website with about a week turnaround. That’s the design up there. It needs a lot of work but I’m not worrying about it too much since I don’t have much of a timeline to work on it.

I will be driving down to Jacksonville Beach this weekend to attend my Uncle Terry’s memorial service. I’ll probably spend about 14 hours in the car. It’ll be good to see my family and to hear stories about him.

If I didn’t have so much to do, I’d write more. There’ll be another entry tomorrow seeing as it’s been 6 days since the last.

Sleep?

I haven’t slept well in a long time. It’s getting old.

Tabouli

I made some tabouli and falafel. I found some really cheap boxes of mix and recipe to bake it instead of frying it. Lunch has been great lately.

Running!

Between my crazy work schedule and the winter weather, I’ve slowly gotten into bad shape, but lately I’m getting back into a good routine for running. I love it.

Old Habits Die Hard

I’ve cut out most caffeine for the last two weeks, and have had I think two cups of coffee in that time. I was starting to feel pretty rough, so I started having one cup of tea in the mornings. I still end up feeling really rough around 3pm each day, but I’m sure that won’t last a whole lot longer. I’m really glad it’s Friday. I just wish I could be outside today seeing as it’s going to be sunny and 60 degrees.

Cameras

A couple years ago my uncle Ed gave me a worn out cardboard box full of old cameras, flashes, and film. I’ve gone through them a little and looked up some info, but have recently started to come up with some sort of idea for putting together a document with images of the cameras and other equipment and all of the relevant info I can find. It should be an interesting project to work on. First, though, I really want to build some sort of light box for taking photos.
