I spent some time taking photos with my mom over the weekend. I took a lot of photos like this. I’ve always liked taking these. I have no idea why.
I’m currently planning out a marathon training program.
Good weekend
It’s been a good weekend so far. I went on a great run yesterday morning and then ran a few errands and got in a second run for a total of 7 miles yesterday. I also got some tape that should help my achilles problem, but I think it’s getting better on its own as well.
Today I’m planning on another run. It should be a great day for it.
Half marathoning
I’ll stop talking about it, but first I guess I ought to say that I did pretty well in the Asheville half marathon on Saturday. I ran it in 1:41:55 and placed 140 out of 1288 finishers. I’m glad I took it easy last week and had been staying on top of my training. It really helped. I was happy to have Sara and my mom with me at the finish line. Sara actually took this photo, which is a lot better than the official race photo of me. I enjoyed running with Scott for about half of the race, and I was constantly worried that he was about to pass me for the second half.
I had a great weekend overall, if you don’t count the redneck with a swastika tattoo across his back on the four wheeler with a rifle in his lap that decided to take a joyride on our property up in Balsam Grove. Yep.
Heading to NC
Sara and I are headed up to North Carolina this weekend. I’m running in the Asheville half marathon tomorrow morning at 7:30, and we’ll stay up in Balsam Grove and spend some time with my parents. I’m really excited for the race and ready to see the mountains again.
Take a guess
I got some great gifts for my birthday. I think it’s pretty obvious as to what I’ve been up to lately. I got some other great gifts, including the lens that I used to take this photo (which isn’t doing it justice, but a few previous macro shots posted on here started to) that my mom gave me.
I’m pretty lucky.
Great Birthday
This weekend was great. I had some great food, I got to see my grandma and grandpa, and I got a great long run in.
Today, my actual birthday, was great even if I had to work. It was a beautiful day out and I got to have dinner with my parents, grandma, and my uncle and aunt. I’m pretty stuffed full of food and cake right now though.
Down, Out, and Busy
Well after a big storm yesterday, my internet went out and has been down for over a day. I’ve also been really busy at work, but it’s still going well.
Jeff and Liz are coming to visit on Friday so it’ll be an eventful weekend.
New Way to See
My mom gave me an awesome early birthday gift. It’s a great lens, and as you can see here, it takes some pretty good macro shots. Actually it does much better than this, but my compact flash card is screwing up so many of the photos I took today were corrupted.
I found this caterpillar while I was watering the tons of plants I have out on our balcony.
I’m So Lazy
Yet another photo from the weekend.
Yesterday at work I got an email about free plants that the horticulturalist was giving away. I ended up with two flats of salvia and some milkweed. I also got three Thai chili plants, and a few other flowers. It was funny driving home, I had a tv that Sara’s dad had given us in the backseat and every other free spot filled with plants.
This afternoon I potted some of the flowers and planted the chilis in a big container. I’ll post some pictures of our patio tomorrow.
Weekend!
And a long one at that. I’m sitting here waiting for a couple of things today. I finally called the Glass Doctor (why not, they’ve got a great jingle) to come and replace the windshield on my car. I’m also waiting to hear back about something else, but we’ll see if I do, or if I do what exactly I’ll hear. That was vague. Sara’s sister Shelby is coming up to visit today so we’ll probably be going out downtown.
Oh and it looks like Jeff and Liz will be coming to visit next Thursday. That should be yet another fun weekend.
